The Park District currently has one vacancy for an Accounting Technician in the Finance & Management Services Division. This position will be working at the Administrative Headquarters in Oakland, CA. The hiring pools established will be used to fill the current vacancy and any additional vacancies that may occur in Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grants, or Budget Unit during the one-year life of the hiring pools.
WHATYOU’LL BE DOING:
Under the supervision of the Finance Supervisor, you will perform a variety of routine to complex duties for the entire range of bookkeeping and paraprofessional accounting functions, as well as assisting in special projects by completing analyses and studies.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:- Experience working in a finance-related role for a government or public-sector environment.
- Proficiency with financial systems, such as Finance Enterprise and/or Workday, with the ability to navigate, analyze, and reconcile data accurately.
- When assigned to the Payroll Unit, hands‑on involvement in CalPERS reconciliation and a solid understanding of FLSA requirements.
- Detail‑oriented and well‑organized, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines while managing multiple assignments.
- Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to interpret policies, regulatory guidelines, and precedents, and apply them appropriately.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, paired with strong customer service abilities and a proactive, get‑the‑job‑done attitude.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
