Position: Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation)

The ideal candidate is a proven mitigation leader with expertise in FEMA flood mapping, flood risk analysis, regulatory flood hazard data, and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The candidate has experience leading technical teams, managing complex programs and projects, overseeing contractor performance, and delivering accurate flood hazard information to communities and intergovernmental partners. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  • Leading or managing complex flood risk analysis, flood hazard mapping, mitigation, or compliance-related projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders; and
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, standards, or guidance to implement risk identification, floodplain management, mitigation, or compliance-related program activities; and
  • Providing guidance, advice, or recommendations to stakeholders on flood hazard mapping, regulatory flood data, or flood risk analysis.
