Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

ECS is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in our Honolulu, HI office. This position is contingent upon contract award. The Senior Network Engineer for the Pacific region supports the medical mission of the DoD and ensures that the highly complex and technical requirements related to the infrastructure are addressed. The Senior Network Engineer for the Pacific region identifies and resolves larger, more complex LAN/WLAN/WAN network problems and issues, researches network-level problems using network management tools, and is responsible for providing high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN communication equipment for all DHA networked facilities within the Pacific Region.

The role serves as the regional point of contact for network issues, configuration management, and communications interconnection, addressing multi-protocol routing and network management, and coordinates with government staff, agencies, and other contractor representatives involved with LAN/WLAN/WAN design, network implementation, deployment, and management to ensure optimal performance for the MHS mission.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN equipment for DHA networked facilities in the Pacific Region.
• Identify, research, and resolve complex network problems using network management tools (e.g., Orion Solar Winds, ARMIS, Ansible).
• Establish and configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs to maintain LAN/WAN security and prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems.
• Advise and consult with government staff, agencies, and contractor representatives to ensure LAN/WLAN/WAN designs adequately support the DoD and MHS mission and provide optimal performance.
• Lead and collaborate with Network Specialists and external organizations to resolve LAN/WAN issues and ensure adherence to DoD/DHA standards.
• Develop and write policies and procedures, standard changes, and documentation to support operations and standardization across the network.
• Evaluate and resolve complex issues across OSI layers using diagnostics and network administration tools; stay current with DoD and DHA standards.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000

General Description of Benefits

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, a related technical discipline, and five years of directly related experience; or equivalent experience through a certified technical/vocational program with 10 years of related experience.
• Compliance with DoD Directive 8140 and related requirements; must have and maintain certification(s) compliant with the Network Operations Specialist “Advanced” per DoD 8140.
• Mastery of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and experience with DoD/DHA network environments. Experience with OTDRs, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA standards.
• Experience with routed, switched, and LAN/WAN environments using Windows, UNIX, and other platforms; proficiency with routers, switches, and WAN connectivity.
• Experience with DoD Health Care Information Systems; expertise in Windows networks, Cisco systems, and Solar Winds; CCNP and CISSP certifications are required.
• Effective communication with a broad audience including Government officials and technical personnel.

• Experience with Zero Trust Architectures and Methodologies is desired.
