Under the general direction of the Branch Chief, Information Technology Manager II, IT District Operations, the incumbent serves as the Chief for the District 4 IT Office. The incumbent oversees the Desktop Support, System Support, and Business Service Operations Units. These IT operations are staffed by IT professionals in various classifications ranging from Information Technology Associate to Information Technology Supervisor II.

These professionals are responsible for end‑user desktop and mobile computer support, Local Area Network support, Server Hosting, Storage Management, IT Procurement, Asset Management, etc.

The incumbent has full management responsibility for the standards, processes, and procedures for the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation, and procurement of hardware and software for desktops and mobile devices. The incumbent also has full management responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing, and controlling all activities associated with the day‑to‑day IT operations of the District 4 Oakland Office and its supported region.
