The Human Services Department (HSD) works to strengthen Oakland communities by ensuring access to essential services that support children, youth, and families. This position supports the City’s food programs, which provide free meals to children and youth during periods when school is not in session. Food Program Drivers play a key role in ensuring meals are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with City, State, and federal requirements.
This work directly supports food access, program integrity, and community trust. The position is part of a small, mission‑driven team focused on public service, operational reliability, and equitable access to nutritious food across Oakland neighborhoods.
