GlobalMeeting and Events Manager Based in Oakland, CA with up to 20% travel to support events at Block locations nationwide. About the Role
The Meeting and Events Program Manager plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, consistent, and memorable event experiences across Block's portfolio. This role sits within the JLL Experience Services and partners closely with the Block events team to lead event delivery, support strategic program development, and ensure operational excellence.
This is a hands‑on leadership role that blends strategy, people leadership, and execution. The Program Manager acts as a player‑coach, leading JLL Events Coordinators while stepping in to support event execution during high‑volume periods, escalations, or complex event needs. Responsible for global events operations, this role will work across multiple time zones and travel as needed.
Here is some of what you'll do- Demonstrate strong understanding of Block's events strategy and serve as primary strategic contact, driving consistent execution across event coordinators, vendors, and venue partners while maintaining global standards
- Partner with coordinators on high‑profile meetings and events including senior leadership participation, and assist with planning, coordination, and execution during peak periods to ensure seamless experiences
- Lead and mentor JLL Events Coordinators through day‑to‑day guidance, coaching, and escalation support while acting as a player‑coach during high‑volume periods
- Support onboarding, training, and continuous development of the events team to drive consistent service delivery across the portfolio
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Workplace, Facilities, End Experience Services, IT/AV, and Operations teams to ensure event services are fully integrated with site operations
- Partner with Block's Global Events Lead and Operations Manager to promote global consistency, share best practices, scale successful models, and streamline processes
- Support development and maintenance of event documentation, playbooks, SOPs, and regional guidelines while identifying improvement opportunities through process standardization
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, maintain proactive high‑touch service that exceeds expectations, establish key metrics for continuous improvement, and gather feedback to enhance future event experiences
- 5+ years of experience in meetings and events, hospitality, workplace experience, or program management.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, preferably in a matrixed or client‑facing environment.
- Experience managing high‑profile or executive‑level events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).
- Highly organized with strong analytical and financial aptitude, ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments, and flexible, solution‑oriented approach to navigating ambiguity.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with a hands‑on, collaborative mindset, excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- A bachelor's degree or higher.
- CMP certification.
- Events are delivered consistently, smoothly, and at a high standard across regions.
- Events Coordinators feel supported, coached, and set up for success.
- Clear, scalable playbooks and documentation are in place.
