Cares for residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse.

Education and/or

Experience:

Minimum high school diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Certificates, Licensees, Registrations:
Graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within 120 days of employment; name entered into state nurse aide registry.

Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families and staff members.

Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers; calculate percentage of whole; measure in cubic centimeters (cc’s); measure in feet and inches. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, length and height.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  Information Management

  Enter or records data timely and accurately; protects confidentiality of resident information, protects data against loss or destruction, reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues. Monitors and complies with company policies, procedures and state and federal law.

  Interpersonal Skills

  Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, treats others with dignity and respect; and seeks feedback.

  Continuing Education

  Attends in-service and education programs; attends continuing education required for maintenance certification.
