Description

Position Summary

The Floor Lead / Budtender is a hybrid role that blends front-line customer engagement with floor leadership responsibilities. This position is physically present on the sales floor at all times, serving as both a knowledgeable cannabis advisor to guests and a supervisory resource for the budtender team. The Floor Lead / Budtender delivers exceptional one-on-one service, ensures regulatory compliance, maintains an organized and welcoming retail environment, and provides real-time guidance and support to fellow team members.

This role requires a confident, detail-oriented individual who can seamlessly transition between serving customers and leading day-to-day floor operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Welcome each guest personally using enthusiastic words, tone, and body language that reflects the brand.
  • Verify proper identification, paperwork, and documentation for all guests prior to service.
  • Work one-on-one with guests to recommend cannabis products that best match their preferences, needs, and desired effects.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information about product inventory, pricing, promotions, strains, and consumption methods.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to full customer satisfaction.
  • Input orders in a timely and accurate manner; collect payment and make correct change.
  • Quickly and precisely handle cash and debit transactions while maintaining a balanced cash drawer at all times.
  • Supervise and provide real-time guidance to budtender team members during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies governing the sale of cannabis products.
  • Train and onboard new team members on cannabis product knowledge, POS systems, compliance requirements, and service standards.
  • Motivate and support the team to maintain an effective floor atmosphere and efficient service flow.
  • Conduct cash handling procedures including opening and closing registers, managing cash drops, and reconciling sales at end of shift.
  • Collaborate with management to implement sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and product displays that enhance the customer experience.

Operations & Inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor that adheres to health and safety standards at all times.
  • Clean, stock, and organize the dispensary in accordance with company standards; work with team members to keep all areas maintained throughout the shift.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimize stock discrepancies.
  • Conduct and/or assist with nightly inventory counts of all dispensary products.
  • Update menus and signage with accurate, informative, and visually appealing content as assigned.
  • Stay current on industry trends, product knowledge, and regulatory changes pertaining to cannabis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have flexible availability and be able to work closing and weekend shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of retail or customer service experience required; cannabis industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and industry regulations.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate, support, and guide a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
