Technical Sales
• Advance specialty gas sales among existing and prospective customers
• Identify key growth markets and target accounts across Life Science, Energy and Chemical, Semiconductor, Research Laboratories, Manufacturing, EV Lithium Battery, PV solar manufacturing, Food and Beverage, and related sectors
• Develop and execute strategies to realize regional growth opportunities
• Support Account Managers in expanding specialty gas sales within assigned portfolios
• Build collaborative partnerships with Account Managers, District Managers, and regional Specialists
• Provide customers with technical support, engineering guidance, training, and service
• Establish continuous and accurate market-data collection processes covering customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities
• Use sales and marketing literature to promote Airgas initiatives within the region’s growth strategy
• Grow consultative-sales capabilities and technical/product knowledge through learning, team insights, and research
• Use Salesforce and Google Suite daily
• Generate and execute customer contracts
• Respond promptly to emails and phone calls
• Perform special projects and other duties as necessary
• Work as an outside sales representative supporting regional customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Science, Food Science, Engineering, Technology, or related degree field required
- In lieu of degree, up to 4 years of additional related experience may be accepted
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high-value customer targeting
- Experience with a consultative sales approach and solution-selling concepts
- Strong understanding of customer business needs, macroeconomic and microeconomic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening, and presentation skills
- Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to acclimate to PC-based order entry systems, handheld, scanning, and wireless devices
- Resourceful and proactive; able to work independently and with a team
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Reliable transportation
- Current driver’s license and minimum liability insurance required by state of vehicle registration
- Preferred: 5 years of prior outside business-to-business sales experience with solution-selling background
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases; industrial gas/welding supply sales a plus
- Working knowledge of SAP a plus
- Preferred: 5 years of relevant experience in Life Sciences, Energy and Chemical markets, Research Laboratories, Manufacturing, Food and Beverage
- Demonstrated history of managing customers throughout a defined sales territory with industry experience required; industrial sales experience preferred
- Understanding of medical, specialty, or food-grade gas products and processes preferred
