Security Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking professional, reliable, and highly observant Security Officers to provide security services for Westcore Alpha Poplar LLC in Oakland, California. Security Officers are responsible for conducting vehicle patrols throughout multiple commercial buildings, performing QR code scans, monitoring access points, documenting site activities, addressing unauthorized individuals, reporting property concerns, and responding appropriately to emergencies and suspicious activity.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a safe and secure environment for tenants, visitors, and property assets.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled vehicle patrols of all assigned properties, including:

    • 1700 Kirkham Street

    • 1660 Kirkham Street

    • 1610 Kirkham Street

    • 1600 Kirkham Street

    • 1601 Poplar Street

    • 1651 Poplar Street

    • 1701 Poplar Street

    • 1715 Poplar Street

  • Activate the designated amber patrol light during vehicle patrols.

  • Perform required QR code scans at designated checkpoints from assigned locations.

  • Utilize Time Stamp applications to document patrols, inspections, incidents, and property conditions.

  • Submit photos and activity updates through approved company communication platforms.

  • Monitor building exteriors, entrances, exits, sidewalks, parking areas, loading areas, gates, and perimeter locations.

  • Observe and report suspicious activity, unauthorized access, vandalism, theft, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns.

  • Monitor for illegal dumping, trash accumulation, and debris throughout the property.

  • Photograph and document all dumping violations and property concerns.

  • Identify and report responsible individuals or vehicles whenever possible.

  • Monitor and address loitering, trespassing, and transient activity on the property.

  • Politely request unauthorized individuals to leave the property when appropriate.

  • Contact law enforcement when individuals refuse to comply or when situations become unsafe.

  • Challenge and document unauthorized individuals observed on site.

  • Provide escorts when requested and appropriate.

  • Maintain regular communication with Dispatch and Management throughout the shift.

  • Respond promptly to Dispatch safety checks and status requests.

  • Monitor and answer company-issued phones according to company procedures.

  • Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and Incident Reports (IRs) accurately and thoroughly.

  • Document all incidents using the required reporting standards, including witness information and detailed observations.

  • Maintain accurate records of patrols, inspections, incidents, and site activities.

  • Assist emergency responders by providing site access, information, and directions when required.

  • Follow all emergency response procedures involving police, fire, and medical incidents.

  • Maintain a professional and visible security presence at all times.

  • Keep assigned work areas clean, organized, and free of debris.

Crime Prevention & Emergency Response
  • Prioritize personal safety when observing criminal or suspicious activity.

  • Observe and report crimes in progress including theft, vandalism, vehicle break-ins, trespassing, and disturbances.

  • Contact 911 immediately when criminal activity or emergencies are observed.

  • Provide dispatchers with accurate location information, descriptions of involved individuals, and details of the incident.

  • Notify Management and Dispatch following emergency notifications.

  • Observe and report from a safe location when conditions are unsafe.

  • Never attempt to detain, pursue, or physically confront suspects.

  • Prepare detailed Incident Reports documenting all observations and actions taken.

Qualifications
  • Previous security experience preferred.

  • Valid California Guard Card required.

  • Strong observation and situational awareness skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare accurate reports and incident documentation.

  • Professional appearance and customer service skills.

  • Ability to follow detailed post orders and site procedures.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
