Building Equipment Mechanic

Overview

The full salary range for the Building Equipment Mechanic is $43.86 - $49.38 per hour. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $45.60 per hour. Salary offers are based on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Reporting to the UCR Facilities Building Mechanical/HVAC Supervisor, this position performs journey-level work related to the repair, maintenance, service, installation, modification, troubleshooting, inspection and monitoring of building mechanical equipment and climate control systems.

• Repair, maintenance, service, installation, modification, troubleshooting, inspection and monitoring of commercial/industrial building mechanical equipment, climate control systems, heating and ventilation systems, fume hoods, hydronic systems, heat exchangers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electronic controls and pneumatic controls.
• Support the maintenance and operation of campus and central plant equipment including high pressure steam systems, devices and accessories, Energy Management Control Systems (EMS), other utility distribution, condensate return systems and scientific equipment such as autoclaves.
• Provide independent inspection and response to requests for repair or installation of campus equipment.
• Execute preventative maintenance on equipment and systems by changing belts, bearings and filters.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation of inspections, testing and maintenance (corrective and/or preventative); update equipment documentation, specifications and drawings as needed.
• Review and update all shop logs, both paper and electronic, according to updates and changes.
• Respond to emergency situations to mitigate and resolve immediate building mechanical concerns or safety issues.
• Review and create blueprints/drawings and specifications for new construction and retrofit/renovation projects according to building code requirements.
• Respond to emergencies during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Perform all job duties in adherence with University and departmental safety guidelines.
• Maintain a positive attitude and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students.
