Position Summary

The Community Service Specialist III is an advanced practitioner who leads complex mediation, prevention/intervention, crisis intervention, restorative practices, conflict resolution, resource navigation, and community engagement services. The position serves diverse Family Bridges populations, including seniors, parents, caregivers, individuals and families experiencing housing instability, justice-impacted individuals, and other community members with varied service needs. CSS III independently facilitates group interventions, leads complex or high-risk community responses, develops collaborative partnerships, and represents Family Bridges with external stakeholders.

As a senior team member, Specialist III provides field leadership, mentorship, onboarding support, and practice guidance to other staff but does not exercise formal supervisory authority.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead complex mediation, conflict-resolution, prevention/intervention, crisis-intervention, and restorative-practice services in community settings.
  • Independently facilitate mediation sessions, restorative conferences, healing circles, community dialogues, debriefings, and other healing-centered interventions.
  • Conduct outreach as needed to promote and educate the community about Family Bridges services, assess complex client and community needs and safety concerns, provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and de-escalation, and coordinate referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Coordinate post-incident responses, community healing activities, and restorative interventions following critical incidents.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate community wellness, educational, and restorative programming using evidence-informed practices.
  • Build collaborative partnerships and represent Family Bridges in meetings with public agencies, service providers, law enforcement, schools, businesses, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with partners to address service barriers, community concerns, and complex client or community needs.
  • Provide field leadership, mentorship, on-boarding support, and practice guidance to Community Service Specialists and other team members.
  • Assist the Program Manager with coordination of field coverage, complex situations, quality assurance, and continuous program improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, data collection, case information, and reports in compliance with organizational and program requirements.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment while modeling trauma-informed, restorative, healing-centered, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in community outreach, mediation, restorative practices, crisis intervention, violence prevention, facilitation, behavioral health, or related human services work.
  • Demonstrated experience independently facilitating mediations, restorative processes, healing circles, community dialogues, trainings, or similar group interventions.
  • Experience responding to complex conflicts, crises, or critical incidents in community-based settings.
  • Experience building partnerships and representing an organization with community stakeholders, public agencies, or service providers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care, restorative justice, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and de-escalation.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, onboard, and provide field guidance to peers without exercising formal supervisory authority.
  • Strong facilitation, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment in dynamic or high-stress environments.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and use organizational technology systems.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel locally and throughout California as program needs require.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
