Agent Product Manager

Our client, an AI/ML-driven software startup which drives R&D innovation in large consumer product, semiconductor, and chemical companies, is seeking an Agent Product Manager to join their team as a full-time direct hire reporting to their VP of Product.

This company has $50M+ in funding led by three of the largest US VCs, has doubled in revenue and headcount the past three years, and is deployed with 7,000+ lab workers within 20+ global $20-70B companies for well-over $10M in total ARR. Physical sciences such as chemistry and materials science are the new frontier of GenAI-driven automation, and we’re developing agentic workflow and data management tools to transform the physical product R&D laboratories and teams of the future.

This role will focus on designing and deploying AI agent skills within the company's agentic platform which is used by chemists and materials scientists to accelerate new product development. This person will play a key part in turning customer workflow discovery into scalable, monetizable agentic products that drive measurable time-to-value across a primarily-enterprise customer base. This position will not stand aside to let Engineering do the building;

this person is directly responsible for designing, building, testing, and iterating on these new AI agent skills, applying agentic platform capabilities, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and tool integrations to real customer problems.

PLEASE NOTE: Knowledge of chemistry and/or the work of chemical/materials R&D is not a requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and prioritize high-impact agentic AI opportunities across enterprise customer workflows, translating discovery into structured agent skill requirements, success metrics, and roadmap decisions.
• Own the full lifecycle of agent skills — from problem discovery and prototype validation through operational adoption and transition into generally available, monetizable capabilities.
• Design, build, test, and iterate on AI agent skills directly — applying the company's agentic platform capabilities, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and tool integrations to real customer problems.
• Embed with strategic customers to map end-to-end workflows, uncover automation opportunities, and facilitate co-design workshops that translate business needs into agent behaviors and system logic.
• Partner closely with Forward Deployed Scientists, Engagement Managers, and Delivery teams to ground agent skill development in real deployment experience and customer context.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers on their AI transformation roadmap, helping them envision and realize the operational impact of agentic AI within their R&D work flows.
• Champion adoption and measurable ROI across your portfolio of agent skills — advocating internally for prioritization and externally for customer success.
• Contribute to establishing the patterns, playbooks, and evaluation standards for Agents as one of the company’s earliest Agent PM's.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of shipping AI-powered products in a high-growth environment.
• Exceptional customer discovery skills, ability to map workflows, and surface unspoken pain points.
• Hands‑on experience building or deploying AI agents, copilots, or assistants — including prompt engineering, tool use, evaluation, and iterative refinement.
• Comfort prototyping solutions directly — you validate ideas by building them, not just describing them.
