Position: Maintenance Controller (Part 135/91)

Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible for the operational readiness, maintenance planning, and budget performance of assigned aircraft within the Pacific Coast Jet fleet. Reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance, this role assumes full ownership of assigned tails — coordinating all maintenance events, tracking 12-, 6-, and 1-month forecasts, and serving as the primary point of contact for aircraft status across internal teams, owners, and external vendors.

This role is critical to PCJ's ability to deliver consistent aircraft availability, financial accountability, and owner confidence.

This is a hybrid position that requires periodic travel to Oakland, CA, and supports AOG response, vendor coordination, and time-sensitive operational requirements. The role includes an alternating after-hours on-call rotation. All schedules are subject to change to meet business needs, as determined by the Director of Maintenance. Reports to the Director of Maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assume full accountability for the operational readiness, RTS performance, and budget adherence of all assigned aircraft

Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned fleet across Dispatch, DOM, VP Maintenance, owners, and vendors

Monitor all active maintenance events and maintain real-time awareness of aircraft status, open discrepancies, and AOG conditions

Track recurring squawks and chronic issues; initiate root cause investigations and coordinate permanent corrective actions

Develop and maintain rolling 12-, 6-, and 1-month maintenance forecasts for all assigned aircraft

Coordinate scheduling of inspections, component overhauls, and AD compliance events to minimize operational disruption

Confirm material readiness, tooling availability, and vendor scheduling in advance of all planned maintenance events

Conduct weekly overlap briefs with the co-Manager to align on fleet status, open items, and upcoming events

Act as primary PCJ liaison to external maintenance vendors during scheduled and unscheduled events

Obtain initial work scope approvals and maintain additional approvals for scope increases

Monitor vendor progress against schedule milestones and cost performance; elevate variances promptly

Audit vendor documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to RTS authorization

Maintain and update the approved vendor list for assigned aircraft types

Capture lessons learned from external maintenance events to support in-house capability development

Establish and manage annual maintenance budgets for all assigned aircraft

Track cost data against approved NTEs; identify and report budget variances monthly to the DOM and VP Maintenance

Manage all active AOG events during on-duty days; coordinate vendor response and owner communications

Assume monitoring responsibility for all fleet aircraft during the off-duty manager's absence

Review all maintenance records for accuracy and regulatory compliance prior to RTS authorization

Ensure all work performed on assigned aircraft is properly documented in CAMP and Corridor

Verify AD compliance, RII completion, and required documentation are current for all aircraft under management

Report monthly KPIs to the DOM and VP Maintenance covering fleet availability, AOG downtime, RTS accuracy, and budget performance

Communicate proactively with aircraft owners regarding maintenance status, upcoming events, and cost forecasts

Maintain transparent and timely communication with Dispatch regarding aircraft availability and projected RTS times

Required Qualifications

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate

Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience; 2 or more years in a supervisory, coordination, or fleet planning role

Experience in Part 135 and/or Part 145 turbine-powered aircraft operations

Working knowledge of CAMP and Corridor maintenance tracking systems

Familiarity with FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, and maintenance documentation standards applicable to Part 135 and Part 91 operations

Prior experience working with external MRO vendors and managing multi-vendor maintenance events

Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic flight operation

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams

Ability to maintain flexible availability consistent with the unpredictable demands of a 24/7 flight operation

Willingness to travel off-site for vendor oversight, aircraft recovery, or maintenance coordination as required
