We are currently seeking a Director of Government Auditing to lead the planning, execution, and review of audits for government entities and nonprofit clients. This hybrid position is based in Oakland, MD
, and offers the opportunity to provide hands‑on leadership, support client relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of the audit practice.
This role is ideal for a seasoned CPA with a strong foundation in Audit & Assurance (A&A) and a track record of conducting government audits
, including financial statement preparation and single audits
.
- Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of complex government audit engagements in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring top‑tier client service.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to audit staff and ensure adherence to firm policies and audit methodologies.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and engagement scopes, ensuring efficient and accurate execution.
- Support internal process improvements and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance.
- Utilize audit tools such as CCH Pro System fx Engagement to streamline workflow and enhance audit accuracy (preferred experience).
- CPA designation (required)
- 68 years of progressive experience in public accounting
- Significant experience in Audit & Assurance (A&A), with a focus on government and nonprofit audits
- Proficiency in financial statement audits and single audits
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements, mentor staff, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Experience with CCH Pro System fx Engagement is a plus
