Travel Med/Surg RN opportunity in Oakland, MD 21550 for an experienced Registered Nurse looking to step into a fast-paced acute-care medical-surgical unit. Join a supportive healthcare team, care for a diverse adult patient population, and make an immediate impact while working 12-hour night shifts in Oakland, a welcoming mountain community in western Maryland known for its small-town charm, scenic surroundings, and easy access to outdoor recreation.

  • Location: Oakland, MD 21550
  • Shift Duration: 12 hours
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 08/31/2026
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,930 - $2,030
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Floating: Required; may support other units as needed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Rotates with regular staff
  • Orientation: Unit-based training with introductions, policy review, and system education
Job Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • EPIC experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Strong medical-surgical nursing background with confidence caring for a wide variety of patient diagnoses
  • Must be comfortable floating to assist other inpatient units when needed
  • Must provide a current, unexpired driver’s license with application
  • No first-time travelers
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adult med/surg patients with diverse needs in an acute-care setting
  • Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses such as CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic needs, detox, and post-op recovery
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, efficient patient outcomes
  • Support unit flow by assisting with floating assignments as needed
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment
  • Follow established clinical protocols, documentation standards, and unit procedures in EPIC
