The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the success of the company by completing mechanical designs for pressure sensitive labelers and integrated labeling systems for automated production lines in the packaging industry. Our Oakland, NJ Manufacturing Facility supports critical industries, including Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage manufacturing. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities- Produce new conceptual drawings per instructions.
- Design and develop customized solutions based on customer needs/requirements.
- Produce detailed parts and assemblies (3D and 2D) for manufacturing release.
- Support the machine shop, field assembly, troubleshoot builds, collaborate during assembly, and commissioning activities as required.
- Perform independent studies, analyses, interpretations and develop conclusions.
- Conduct engineering calculations, review designs for compliance and manufacturability. (PFMEA & DFMEA)
- Develop and maintain BoMs and other supportive documentation
- Specify and source purchased components (pneumatics, motors, drives, sensors, bearings, etc.)
- Maintain accurate bill of materials and support the purchasing team
- Work with other departments for cost-effective, full solution development
- Ensure quality standardization of products
- Deliver reliable layout in timely fashion
- Support Production on assembly, setup, testing, and problem resolution related to Layout modification and interpretation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
- Solid Works 3D Modeling drafting experience required
- Inventor experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of machining and machine shop processes required
- Root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience required
- Problem-solving and analytical skills required
- Experience producing exploded view assembly documentation preferred
- Experience with motion controls, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, etc. preferred
- PLC Programming experience preferred
- Electrical Circuit Design experience preferred
- Servo/Stepper Motion Control experience preferred
- Experience with debugging custom and prototype machinery designs
- Experience with simulation and modeling tools preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate across functions and departments
- Excellent organizational skills
