Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking a Fabrication Manager to join our team in our Oakland, NJ production facility.
Delta Intelligent Building Technologies is a fast paced leading designer and manufacturer of architectural-grade lighting products. The Fabrication Manager is responsible for the overall setup and day-to-day operations of the Machine and Paint Shop, aligning workload distribution and inventory with the production schedule. This includes staffing the department and management of personnel, as well as researching and recommending new equipment purchases.
This role serves as the primary liaison with Engineering on tooling requirements, and coordinates with Purchasing and vendors to ensure materials are ordered in a timely manner and meet both production and design specifications. The Fabrication Manager will also train on use and safety of department machinery and equipment and operate some as needed to meet business objectives, including work across saw, laser, press brake, welding, and painting operations.
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining all safety reports, as well as ensuring that Preventive Maintenance is tracked and performed at required intervals across all machines, with proper logging (including operator and technician PMs) for traceability.
The Fabrication Manager will collaborate closely and frequently with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Customer Service, Product Management, and Purchasing to support overall business goals.
JobResponsibilities Include:
- Oversee all daily fabrication activities across first and second shifts.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules in line with sales forecasts and historical monthly data.
- Maintain and delegate workload across the Machine and Paint Shop departments to ensure production needs are met in a timely and organized manner.
- Ensure all production-related data is accurately reflected in the Oracle ERP system and Shop Vue MES, including production status, work orders, and inventory transactions.
- Manage raw material inventory, reporting accuracy, and cycle counts.
- Ensure fabricated parts meet engineering drawings, using drawings and measuring equipment as needed.
- Work with Purchasing to maintain adequate inventory of powder, tooling, and related materials to meet production needs.
- Provide direction to Paint Shop employees on proper coating and masking techniques for each component.
- Oversee the generation of all programs for the Amada turret and press brake machines.
- Establish equipment/tooling operating procedures and training protocols.
- Train and support production staff, including cross-training and troubleshooting as needed.
- Maintain inventory of tools and supplies needed for daily production operations.
- Work with the Maintenance Department to ensure machines, ovens, and paint equipment are properly serviced and maintained, with documentation kept current.
- Track key production metrics and downtime and recommend actions to improve performance.
- Ensure fabricated products meet established quality standards; notify Management of any exceptions.
