- Prepare and deliver lessons to promote mastery of state standards and students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and coaches to identify and meet the educational needs of students.
- Provide instruction in small groups and differentiate instruction to support academic interventions.
- Develop, administer, and analyze assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction.
- Manage and update students’ IEPs, hold IEP meetings, and communicate progress to parents and stakeholders.
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering instruction to high‑achieving students.
- Use technology effectively within lessons.
- Respond to emergencies, ensuring student safety and coordinating with appropriate personnel.
- Participate in professional development and school meetings to support district‑wide special education programming.
- Advocate for students and collaborate with families to establish goals and strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and mandated records.
- Perform additional duties as directed by administration.
- Support district commitments to high student achievement and inclusive education.
- Provide specialized instruction in gifted and intellectual domains as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Current Tennessee teaching license with endorsement for grades 6‑8.
- Demonstrated organizational and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Highly qualified in special education.
Physical Requirements
The position is performed in a standard office environment with an overall healthy and clean setting. Approximately 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing. Physical requirements include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and fine finger dexterity. Up to 25% travel may be required for recruiting activities.
