Elementary Art Teacher – Oakland Elementary, Oakland, TN, USA (Until Filled, Full Time)
Fayette County Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to join our advancing school system. The successful candidates will join a professional organization dedicated to student success. They will be expected to perform duties customary to an elementary teacher in PK‑5, including preparing lessons toward mastery of the state standards, collaborating with other faculty, providing small‑group instruction, differentiating instruction, delivering interventions, and working with administrators and coaches to improve performance.
They will monitor students, collaborate and communicate with parents and other stakeholders, and develop and administer assessments.
An active TN PK‑5 teaching license is required for the applicable grade level, or the ability to obtain a TN teaching license. Attendance is an essential function of the job.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate and differentiate teaching methods to address individual student requirements.
- Commit to high student achievement and support for all students.
- Maintain knowledge of the subject matter being taught.
- Utilize various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical‑thinking skills.
- Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources.
- Embody core values:
Family, Collaboration, Perseverance, Service. - Instruct students to improve their academic success.
- Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to support individual student needs.
- Administer and develop subject‑specific assessments to gauge student competency and develop learning plans.
- Participate in meetings and professional development activities to gather and convey necessary information.
- Monitor students in various educational environments to ensure safety and optimal learning.
- Prepare written materials documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes.
- Plan, develop, implement, and monitor instruction with student success as the goal.
- Integrate technology into lessons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Hold appropriate Tennessee certification license.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Effective decision‑making and verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly qualified in the area of instruction.
- Assigned to classes PK‑5 with an active teaching license or the ability to obtain one.
Working environment:
Standard office setting, generally clean and healthy. The job requires approximately 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing. Physical requirements include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
