Our firm is working on behalf of a client who will be opening a brand new NICU in January 2016 which will have 108 private and semi‑private rooms. We are in need of a NICU Clinical Educator. This is a level 4 NICU. Our client’s Family‑Centered Care Model includes support for the families of their small patients. Our client is nationally recognized for the quality of care they provide and was recently named among the nation’s best hospitals for neonatology as well as the recipient of Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Prematurity.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Education or another related degree (required)
- National Certification in Specialty (NICU) and BLS (CPR) (required)
- Three years progressive experience as it relates to NICU Nursing/Clinical Specialty and in Nursing/Clinical Education
Right now there are a total of 168 FTEs. Upon moving into the new building there will be an increase to 177 to 210 FTEs. This is comprised of RNs, techs and secretaries. 75 to 80% of these FTEs are nurses. If hired, you would not be the only NICU educator. The NICU is currently at 75 beds and when moved into the new building will be at 108 beds.
Responsibilities- Design programs for staff to achieve patient care and outcome standards, such as core measures, NDNQI standards, and patient satisfaction.
- Develop strategies and tools to assess competence of new nursing staff members, focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
- Share responsibility for the quality and safety of patient care.
- Contribute to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.
- Seek opportunities for departmental improvement.
- Consistently apply Lean thinking to departmental operations to enhance services.
- Demonstrate an orientation toward achievement and professional growth of self and others.
- Prepare annual self‑development plan, set professional goals, and seek opportunities for achieving them.
40 hours/week day shift, with an expectation to come in on the off shifts to provide staff coverage if needed.
