Pay: $150,000 – $175,000 annually
Work Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:30 PM | Hybrid (Tuesdays onsite) | Up to 50% domestic travel

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives, oversee capture and proposal management, and drive new business development across federal and commercial markets. This individual will manage a high‑performing team while collaborating closely with executive leadership, operations, finance, and external customers to identify opportunities, develop winning strategies, and strengthen long‑term customer relationships. This is a leadership role focused on building sustainable business development processes rather than traditional quota‑driven sales.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the organization’s business development, capture management, and proposal strategy.
- Develop and qualify new business opportunities while managing the overall sales pipeline.
- Oversee proposal development for new business, contract renewals, referrals, and RFIs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with federal agencies, commercial customers, and teaming partners.
- Deliver executive presentations, capability briefings, and customer meetings.
- Supervise and mentor the Capture Manager, Proposal Manager, and Proposal Coordinator.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to support strategic growth initiatives.
- Utilize Salesforce, Gov Win, and other business development tools to track pipeline activity and performance.
- Support implementation of the organization’s Business Development Ambassador Program.
- Experience leading Business Development, Capture Management, and Proposal Management functions.
- Government contracting (Gov Con) experience required;
Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal Civilian agency experience strongly preferred. - Proven success leading cross‑functional teams and managing complex federal pursuits.
- Experience with Salesforce, Gov Win, or similar CRM and market intelligence platforms.
- Strong executive presentation, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to build processes, make sound business decisions, and develop long‑term customer relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- Reports to the EVP of External Affairs, Business Development & Communications.
- Oversees a team of three direct reports.
- Travel throughout the U.S. up to 50% and attend meetings in the Washington, DC metro area required.
- Success is measured by building sustainable business development processes, strategic go/no‑go decisions, and long‑term customer relationships—not solely by proposal wins.
