The Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's balance sheet management activities through the analysis and monitoring of funding, liquidity, capital adequacy, interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and investment portfolio positions. This role provides critical financial insights and strategic recommendations that support the institution's long-term funding objectives, regulatory compliance requirements, and overall financial stability.

What you’ll do

You will be a member of a two-person team in the Asset Liability Management (“ALM”) division of Canadian Tire Bank (“CTB”) and will report to the Manager, ALM. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be accountable to perform high-quality reporting and analysis, and clearly summarize findings to internal stakeholders, including senior management. The successful candidate communicates effectively, has a technical expertise, analytical skillset and thrives when attention to detail is critical.

This position will require you to manage multiple deadlines, and to periodically complete tasks with quick turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and enhance the organization’s funding, liquidity, and capital adequacy models to ensure accurate forecasting, risk measurement, and strategic decision-making.

  • Analyze and monitor balance sheet risks, including interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, liquidity risk, and capital management metrics, while identifying emerging trends and potential risks.

  • Prepare comprehensive management reporting and detailed financial analysis.

  • Develop and present short- and long-term debt funding strategies to the Manager, Asset Liability Management, supporting funding optimization and strategic capital planning.

  • Evaluate capital levels and leverage ratios to determine and recommend appropriate dividend declaration amounts.

  • Support the preparation of high-quality presentations, reports, and briefing materials for the Board of Directors, Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), and senior leadership teams.

  • Communicate complex ALM concepts, financial results, and risk management insights to stakeholders across the organization, including senior management and executive leadership teams.

  • Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Risk Management, Treasury Capital Markets, and other business units to ensure alignment of balance sheet strategies and risk management objectives.

  • Maintain and continuously improve ALM-related policies, procedures, methodologies, and controls to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Ensure all operating procedures, models, assumptions, and reporting processes are thoroughly documented, reviewed, and updated on a regular basis.

  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic initiatives, regulatory requests, management inquiries, and business decisions.

  • Participate in projects related to treasury management, balance sheet optimization, regulatory reporting, model enhancements, and process improvements.

  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • 5–7 years of experience in ALM, Treasury, Capital Management, Liquidity Risk Management, Financial Risk Management, or a related finance function.

  • Experience working and guidelines within a financial institution (bank, credit union, trust company, insurance company, or other regulated financial services organization).

  • Demonstrated experience in balance sheet analysis, interest rate risk, and liquidity management.

  • Experience preparing management reporting and presenting financial analysis to senior stakeholders or committees.

  • Strong understanding of Asset Liability Management principles, balance sheet management, funding and liquidity risk, capital adequacy, and interest rate risk management.

  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, stress testing, and scenario analysis.

  • Knowledge of securities, derivatives, debt funding strategies, and capital markets activities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
