Job Summary

The Portfolio Manager is an experienced, client-centric professional joining our investment management team, with a strong track record in managing client relationships, conducting Know-Your-Client (KYC) reviews, and navigating compliance requirements. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Portfolio Manager will be accountable to manage our proprietary funds and strategies as well as implementing these tailored strategies across client portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • KYC Lifecycle Management & Annual Reviews: Conduct comprehensive annual reviews for high-net-worth individuals and families. This includes thoroughly assessing and documenting the client’s KYC profile, investment objectives, time horizons, liquidity needs, and risk tolerance to ensure portfolio suitability. Serve as a proactive touchpoint for clients during market volatility, reinforcing how their long-term strategic plans continue to match their risk profiles.
  • Advisor & Client Onboarding Integration: Support the seamless onboarding of new advisors joining Bellwether by clearly articulating our investment offerings and value proposition. Actively lead the initial discovery and KYC documentation process for their transitioning clients to establish suitable asset mix strategies.
  • Financial Planning Integration: Utilize advanced wealth planning software to build tailored, structured wealth plans that integrate a client’s KYC data with basic financial planning, tax strategy awareness, and long-term financial goals.
  • Proactive Engagement & Committee

    Collaboration:

    Actively participate in investment team meetings to contribute market insights, security analysis and help shape core portfolio mandates.
  • Discretionary Portfolio Execution & Rebalancing: Manage cash flows, execute trades, and actively rebalance client accounts in strict accordance with established Investment Policy Statements (IPS) and core firm mandates, ensuring portfolios stay aligned with their verified KYC parameters.
  • Compliance, Audit Readiness & Risk Mitigation: Ensure all client account files, investment policy updates, and communication logs strictly adhere to provincial securities commission guidelines and internal compliance standards. Conduct regular exception reporting reviews to identify and correct any portfolio drifts outside of approved KYC mandates.
Qualifications
  • Registration Status (Required/Preferred): Must be currently registered as an Advising Representative (AR) with a provincial securities commission.
  • Alternative Credentialing: Candidates who are not currently registered but hold the CFA Designation will be considered, subject to an internal review to determine their timeline for rapid registration.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant investment management and industry experience.
  • Core Competencies: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with high-net-worth clients and members of the investment team.
