Kendal at Oberlin’s Early Learning Center is currently seeking a creative and enthusiastic full-time Lead Teacher
. Our NAEYC-accredited program features unique intergenerational programming, giving children the special opportunity to learn and grow alongside our beloved Grand friends who live on campus. The Lead Teacher will play a key role in shaping the minds and hearts of young learners by creating a caring, consistent, and engaging classroom environment, preparing curriculum materials, and maintaining a safe, accepting educational setting.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and adapt a creative curriculum based on preschool developmental milestones.
- Assess children’s development and learning by collecting samples of drawings and writings and adding them to the children’s portfolios.
- Pay attention to and support children’s interests, skills, and knowledge.
- Learn and support all KELC curricula such as Conscious Discipline, set clear behavior limits, and explain reasons.
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with children ages 2–5.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition certifications (or ability to obtain within the first 90 days).
- Familiarity or training in Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline is a plus.
- Genuine love for working with children and a commitment to preparing them for kindergarten.
- Ability to take children outside in cold weather.
- Ability to lift children, if needed, weighing 30–50 pounds.
