Job DescriptionLorain County JVS is a Career and Technical Education Training Center. It consists of a public high school for students in grades 9-12 and the Adult Career Center, which offers training and educational opportunities for adults.
STARTING DATE : August 2026
SALARY : Appropriate step on Teachers Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education.
REPORTS TO : Assigned Supervisor/Principal

WORK WEEK/YEAR : 185 days + 5 days extended time (Year 1 only)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- Hold current Ohio Career technical Workforce Development Educator License in Industrial Power Technology A1 OR minimum 5 years work experience in the field of Industrial Equipment Mechanics that will lead to securing instructor license issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
- Willingness to obtain school van driver’s license
- Documentation of a clear criminal record (BCI/FBI)
- Ability/willingness to stay on track with the required coursework leading to the required licensure
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Proven technology related skills
- Ability to multi-task in a changing environment
- Sincere interest and commitment to work with students, parents, staff, business, community organizations, and associate schools
- Ability to work with students having a wide range of abilities and skill levels
- Team player – willingness to work effectively in a team environment
- Desire to motivate and assist young people in setting educational, social and behavioral goals
- Associate’s Degree/Bachelor’s Degree or ability to obtain
- Prior experience teaching a similar successful program
- Prior experience with FFA/CTSO
- Proven ability to develop curriculum
- Knowledge of instructional techniques
- Demonstrated experience in leadership
- Prior experience working with high school age students
