Position: Undergraduate Research Program Coordinator (Humanities & Social Science)
Job Summary

Oberlin Undergraduate Research (OUR) invites applications for the position of OUR Program Coordinator in the Humanities and Social Sciences. This is a non-continuing, full-time, 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff position. The position is a one-year, full-time, 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff position, renewable annually based on performance and institutional needs. This position reports to the Director of Inclusive Excellence in Undergraduate Research and STEM Education.

This position will advance Oberlin's efforts to provide quality undergraduate research experiences and to increase the numbers of undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing research, PhDs post-Oberlin, and other advanced degrees. The Program Coordinator in the Humanities and Social Sciences will assist the Director with programming to encourage broader student engagement in research with such campus constituents as CELA, Career Exploration and Development, and the Multicultural Resource Commons.

Additionally, they will support the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) by assisting the MMUF Faculty and Administrative Coordinators with administrative and programmatic tasks.

The position will be a full-time, 40 hours/week 12-month appointment. The anticipated start date is July 6, 2026.

This is an on-campus position, with typical working hours of Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with an hour lunch break. Evenings and weekends are regularly required for support of OUR and related programming.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator in the Humanities and Social Sciences will:

* Coordinate campus-wide undergraduate research programming for undergraduate research such as the Oberlin College Undergraduate Research Symposium and Lab Crawl, serving as lead support as assigned.

* Facilitate organizational and programmatic support for collaborative projects with CELA offices such as the Junior Practicum, SOAR, and Winter Term programming

* Manage logistics and communications for research cohort programs including MMUF and OSRI Fellows by organizing events and programming, communicating with fellows and mentors, and providing accountability for fellows

* Serve as a resource for students interested in pursuing research, preparing for research conferences and presentations, and translating their research experience to post-graduation careers and fellowships

* Provide organizational and programmatic support for Oberlin's research students to attend annual undergraduate research conferences such as the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship regional conference

* Lead and/or support initiatives that increase the visibility and improve support of undergraduate research at Oberlin College as assigned.

* Supervise the OUR Research Ambassadors and peer-mentors

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences and knowledge

of undergraduate research programming. The incumbent must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering welcoming environments for all students in higher education and experience working with college students from all backgrounds. The incumbent must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, be proactive, and be capable of working independently and as part of a team. The incumbent must be extremely responsible, punctual, and detail-oriented and must have strong research, writing, and oral presentation skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required.

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications for this position are a Master's degree, with administrative experience. It is preferred that the incumbent have experience with website design and social media outreach.
