Chemistry & Biochemistry Teaching Assistant – CHEM 205 (Fall 2026)
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Fall 2026 semester. The position is to assist lab sections of CHEM 205. Applicants should have a strong interest in the sciences; a major in chemistry or biochemistry is preferred but not required.
Job SummaryThe role is a 5–7 hour per week commitment. TAs will help students in laboratory, grade assignments, and develop their own understanding of the material. They will foster a professional relationship with students and build teaching skills.
Responsibilities- Prior knowledge and reasonable mastery of CHEM 205 material
- Availability to attend a weekly TA meeting
- Grading laboratory assignments in a timely fashion
- Assisting students in lab with relevant techniques and processes
- With agreement of TAs and instructors, additional paid hours may be available for tutoring sessions outside lab periods to help students with lab reports, other assignments, and review of lab concepts
- Enrolled student at Oberlin College & Conservatory
- Earned a passing grade in CHEM 205
$13.00–$13.75 per hour, depending on prior TA experience in the department.
