Overview
The Center for Information Technology (CIT) at Oberlin College is leading a campus-wide transformation to modernize enterprise systems, streamline digital workflows, and expand data-informed decision-making. This transformation includes implementing a new cloud-based ERP system that will reshape administrative and academic operations across the College. The IT Business Analyst will join at a pivotal time, working with departments to reimagine processes, improve data access, and modernize enterprise applications.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications, this role ensures campus-wide systems are responsive, efficient, and aligned with institutional priorities. The analyst manages a portfolio of enterprise applications, including platforms supporting student advising (Anthology Reach), student engagement (Engage), and residential life (Star Rez), translating functional needs into workflows that improve user experience, reduce risk, and support long-term success.
The position is on-site, five days per week.
ResponsibilitiesThis role combines business process analysis, data and reporting expertise, application lifecycle management, and technical consulting to support enterprise applications relied on by departments including the Registrar, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Finance, Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Divisions, and Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (IEP/IR). The IT Business Analyst serves as a connector between functional users and technical teams, ensuring enterprise technology is configured and supported to drive institutional effectiveness and student-centered service delivery.
- Collaborate with campus departments to review, map, and improve business processes supported by enterprise applications.
- Analyze workflows to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and enhanced service delivery.
- Evaluate vendor solutions and propose system configurations and integrations that align with best practices and institutional needs.
Business Process Analysis & Planning

Data Analysis, Reporting & Governance
- Develop and support reporting and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Argos, or other platforms.
- Partner with IEP/IR to support data governance, business data definitions, and quality assurance.
- Contribute to data-related policies and serve as a liaison to cross-functional data governance groups.
- Maintain strong data management practices across systems such as Anthology Reach, Engage, and Star Rez.
Enterprise Application Support & Lifecycle Management
- Act as a subject matter expert for assigned applications, including student engagement, advising, housing, and other ERP components.
- Plan and coordinate system upgrades, testing, vendor engagement, and release management.
- Lead or support rollouts of new features and modules that enhance institutional capabilities.
Operational Support & End User Enablement
- Provide front-line support to end users; resolve tickets, troubleshoot issues, and document resolutions.
- Deliver training, develop documentation, and host workshops to support user adoption.
- Maintain accurate records of system functionality, workflows, and business use cases.
Consulting & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide consulting services to administrative and academic departments to align systems with business goals.
- Act as a bridge between CIT developers, infrastructure teams, and functional stakeholders.
- Foster collaborative relationships with the Registrar, HR, Finance, Student Affairs, Admissions, and Academic Affairs.
- Contribute to cross-campus technology initiatives and process redesign efforts using Agile or hybrid project methodologies.
