Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a construction and contractor organization in Ocala, Florida. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day transactional work with broader support for financial reporting and close activities. In this role, you will contribute to accurate records, reliable reconciliations, and smooth coordination across core accounting functions while partnering with leadership on additional financial tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Handle daily cash activity, including bank transactions and recurring reconciliations for multiple entities and accounts.

• Support accounts receivable and accounts payable operations by preparing customer invoices, processing payments, and maintaining accurate transaction records.

• Maintain mortgage-related accounting records by setting up new loan entries, applying payments, documenting payoffs, and responding to resident account inquiries.

• Prepare and review balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations on a regular schedule to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Assist Controllers with financial reporting support, journal entry preparation, and other assigned accounting projects.

• Contribute to monthly accounting cycles by helping with sales tax filings, payroll reconciliations, and month-end close activities as needed.

• Protect sensitive financial information by following sound recordkeeping practices and maintaining confidentiality across all accounting files.

• Promote a collaborative and safety-focused work environment while collaborating effectively with coworkers and supporting additional departmental needs when required.
