Overview
The Telecom Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily telecom field operations related to fiber optic construction to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. This role provides field leadership to crews and subcontractors while supporting project execution from planning through closeout.
What You’ll Do Field Operations & Supervision- Supervise and coordinate daily telecom construction activities for aerial, underground and/or splicing crews.
- Oversee field personnel and subcontractors to ensure safe and productive work practices.
- Monitor work progress and adjust field activities to maintain project schedules.
- Ensure crews have appropriate materials, equipment, and resources to perform assigned work.
- Ensure work is completed per design, prints, and client specifications.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among field teams.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Foster and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Conduct safety briefings and verify proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify hazards and support incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions.
- Act as a field liaison between construction leadership, project management, internal teams, subcontractors, customers, and permitting authorities.
- Represent the company during site walks, pre‑construction meetings, inspections, and project closeout activities as required.
- Provide timely updates regarding project status, risks, and field conditions.
- Ensure construction quality and accuracy of work performed.
- Oversee and schedule required construction inspections.
- Manage verification and true‑up of unit quantities.
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements related to OSP construction projects.
- Identify potential construction issues early and implement solutions to prevent delays.
- Use construction scheduling system, project and task management tools to track construction progress, assess accountability and completion and maintain accurate daily production reports and field documentation.
- Track permits, inspections, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project closeout documentation and reporting requirements.
- Provide coordination and oversight to assigned field personnel and subcontractors.
- Reinforce company policies, safety expectations, and performance standards.
- Support coaching, training, and performance feedback in collaboration with management.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3–5 years of telecom or OSP FTTH construction experience with field leadership responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of telecom construction practices and safety standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, and digital reporting tools.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean record (will operate company vehicle).
- Experience with fiber optic construction and splicing operations.
- Proficiency using project management or construction tracking software.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Smartsheets.
- Project management certification (CAPM, PMP or similar).
- Warehouse operations experience (inventory, security).
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Working Conditions & Exposure- Primarily field‑based role requiring regular travel to job sites.
- Work performed outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and moderate noise levels.
- Combination of field supervision and administrative responsibilities.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
