Job Description

Marion County Public Schools Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks is seeking a full‑time School/Guidance Counselor to support student services. • Provide academic, career, and social‑emotional counseling to students.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop individualized education plans.
• Conduct screenings and referrals for mental health, special education, and other support services.
• Facilitate crisis management and conflict resolution among students.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare reports for guidance boards.
• Participate in professional development and attend required training sessions.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with completion of a Florida Educator Certification.
• Valid Florida Department of Education educator’s certificate or an approved alternative credential (e.g., District certification in a CTE subject area, Military Veterans Certification Pathway, Temporary Teacher Internship Certification Pathway, or ROTC position).
• Minimum of 18 years of age and U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Compliance with pre‑employment drug testing and Level II background check requirements.
