Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator – Plant 1 provides day-to-day safety support within an active manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for helping ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and established safety procedures while promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and comfortable spending time on the production floor. This individual will identify and document safety concerns, assist with corrective actions, conduct routine inspections, support employee training initiatives, and escalate safety issues to appropriate leadership when necessary. The Safety Coordinator must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication while working with employees at all levels of the organization.

Functions

Daily job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support implementation and administration of company safety programs and OSHA compliance initiatives.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard assessments throughout the facility.
  • Identify, document, and follow up on safety concerns and corrective actions.
  • Monitor production areas to ensure employees are following established safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and assist in determining root causes and corrective measures.
  • Prepare reports related to accidents, near misses, safety observations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with new hire safety orientations and ongoing employee safety training.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and other safety-related training as assigned.
  • Participate in and support Safety Committee activities and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, photographs, documentation, and electronic files.
  • Communicate safety concerns and recommendations to supervisors, managers, and employees.
  • Assist with workers' compensation administration, return-to-work restrictions, occupational health clinic coordination, and post-incident procedures as assigned.
  • Recommend improvements to workplace conditions and safety practices.
  • Recognize situations requiring escalation to the EHS Manager or other leadership personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee, medical, incident, and company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant workplace experience in safety, manufacturing, warehouse operations, industrial operations, or a closely related field.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices, including:
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Hazard identification
    • Routine safety inspections
    • Incident reporting
    • Corrective action follow-up
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to prepare professional emails, maintain spreadsheets, complete documentation accurately, and organize electronic records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, managers, and Safety Department personnel.
  • Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively in an active manufacturing environment and spend significant time on the production floor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Previous safety-related experience involving inspections, hazard identification, corrective-action tracking, incident documentation, or employee training.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
  • Experience conducting toolbox talks, safety meetings, or new-hire safety orientations.
  • Familiarity with workers' compensation procedures and occupational health processes.
  • Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, safety certificate, or related technical training.
