SummaryThe Mechanical Supervisor acts as the central point of contact for all equipment support services for construction projects. They manage all equipment and equipment support personnel within a project such that reliable equipment is provided to efficiently and safely perform the project construction work.
This position will support a large highway construction construction project in Ocala, FL.
- Evaluates project equipment lists and technical specifications for machinery and plants.
- Ensures fleet and equipment comply with federal, state, and company regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
- Supports development and updates of project equipment schedules and asset planning.
- Initiates equipment requisitions and coordinates asset reallocation with HQ Mechanical Department.
- Confirms receipt and complete specifications for newly acquired equipment.
- Manages short-term rentals: assess needs, monitor usage, and control costs.
- Oversees equipment and plant repairs, including spare parts procurement and cost management.
- Supervises internal workshops and external vendors; maintain dealer support relationships.
- Coordinates major repairs and communicate with Area P&E Manager and HQ Mechanical and operations teams.
- Identifies and delivers training for field mechanics with support from QHSE and HR.
- Ensures preventive maintenance schedules and DOT inspections are completed and documented.
- Oversees equipment moves, installations, and data tracking (e.g., usage, fuel, downtime) in JDE.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 5 years experience managing heavy vehicle or construction fleet required
- Heavy civil construction experience required
