Position Summary

The Quality Engineer will function in a dynamic Product Development Team and will work closely with the engineering department and Senior Electronics Engineers to help document functional, regulatory and environmental requirements for electronic products and systems. The role supports Legacy and New product designs, works with RMA to identify trends, and helps guide compliance with ISO standards.

Essential Functions
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Work with Engineering to develop standards used across business units so hardware is developed to the same standards and quality.
  • Work directly with various Contract manufacturers to address problems and develop standards.
  • Define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and program personnel on quality related issues.
  • Support Purchasing and Contract Manufacturers to coordinate supply chain issues and part replacements.
  • Help manage root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier and contract manufacturer quality issues.
  • Assist with on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification.
  • Administer and oversee all ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements related to all sites as required.
  • Validate that Electronic department processes and resources are followed during development.
  • Perform assessments and audits to ensure compliance with specifications, engineering drawings, and procedures.
  • Review product specifications to establish quality and reliability objectives for the Electronics department.
  • Participate in all first article inspections of product from Contract Manufacturers.
  • Mine and investigate issue data to identify trends or field issues and call for action.
  • Work across the 4 NA business units and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in quality, engineering, supply chain management or manufacturing processes.
  • 5+ years experience with at least 2 years in a supplier quality role.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support regional activities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to present information to management and customers.
  • Mathematical skills applying advanced concepts for analysis, variance, correlation, etc.
  • Reasoning ability applying principles of logical and scientific thinking to abstract and practical problems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Six Sigma/Lean skills, and manufacturing auditing.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in manufacturing auditing.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
  • Application experience testing electronic products/systems for Internal Combustion Engines, Heavy Duty Custom Trucks, or industrial pumps is a plus.
  • Experience with automated systems testing is a plus.
Physical Demands

The role requires sitting, walking, handling items, occasional standing, and lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Close vision and ability to adjust focus are required.

Work Environment

Typical office with occasional work requiring foot, hearing, and eye protection. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, vibration, and low to moderate noise level.
