Community Liaison Coordinator
The Community Liaison Coordinator acts as a liaison between the Police Department and the community on crime-related issues and serves as an information resource to the general public. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of crime prevention, safety, and community relations programs for and through the police department. Work is performed under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Police.
Examplesof Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the general public, community, church, civic organizations, neighborhood organizations, task forces, committees, public officials, management, other City employees, business owners, residential owners, contractors, and vendors in order to coordinate programs, disseminate information, and provide assistance.
- Gives presentations to various groups.
- Writes operational plans, designs and produces brochures, visual aids, and other program documents; researches and prepares and delivers oral presentations in front of public groups; coordinates, implements, and evaluates curriculums and other various programs; and prepares pamphlets, flyers, and bulletins regarding crime events.
- Identifies issues specific to community needs in the City and where opportunities exist to establish or enhance community relations between the community and the department. Identifies and implements methods to measure progress and track crime prevention programs. Keeps supervisor informed and/or abreast of involved activities.
- Attends various training sessions and performs other duties as assigned.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Four-year college degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Candidates must demonstrate paid or volunteer experience that reflects extensive public engagement across diverse demographics.
- Preference will be given to applicants who possess comprehensive knowledge and personal familiarity with the assets, needs, and challenges within the West Ocala Community Redevelopment Area.
- Alternatively, an Associate's degree accompanied by a minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or training.
- A combination of education and experience in community outreach or volunteer service with not-for-profit organizations may also be substituted for the four-year degree requirement.
- Florida Operators Driver's License.
- Resident of Marion County.
