Job Description
  • Directs the strategic initiatives and daily operations of the emergency service line.
  • Collaborates with administrative teams and physicians to coordinate meetings and activities for the Division of Emergency Services.
  • Defines, implements, and manages methods to improve patient flow, turnaround times, and emergency department metrics.
  • Develops business plans for increasing market share and expanding the emergency service line, implementing them after approval.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates emergency service departments to meet budgetary, productivity, and performance improvement targets.
  • Negotiates vendor contracts to secure optimal pricing and oversees the management of supplies, inventory, and budgetary items.
  • Develops and reviews department-specific policies, procedures, and protocols on an annual and ongoing basis.
  • Collaborates with clinical informatics to design processes that enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and efficiency while maximizing the use of CPOE and EMR.
  • Coordinates the development of clinical pathways using research and evidence-based practices to improve compliance and patient outcomes.
  • Ensures high-quality service in compliance with all federal, state, and local accrediting bodies' rules, regulations, statutes, requirements, and standards.
  • Oversees human resource functions, ensuring departments are adequately staffed with trained and competent healthcare providers.
  • Serves as a hospital liaison and representative with medical staff, hospital staff, sister facilities, and community agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory agency (i.e., TJC, CMS, AHCA, etc.) requirements as well as state and federal laws.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be highly organized.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities including the direct management of multiple departments throughout the healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates strong management skills with an emphasis on change and the ability to develop consensus to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of organizational hierarchy and follows appropriate decision-making protocols for assigned duties.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and improvement in patient flow with a strong track record in enhancing HCAHPS, quality, and emergency department flow measures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of strategic and financial planning and management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standards related to clinical practice.
  • Delegation skills necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task is essential.
  • Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Adept as a change agent.
  • Commitment to the advancement of nursing practice and the nursing profession.
  • Commitment to staff education and development.
Education
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]
  • Master's in Science [Required]
Work Experience
  • 3+ in a director position with oversight of emergency services [Required]
  • Previous emergency services management experience [Required]
Licenses And Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Driver's License (DL) [Required]
