In this role the Lab PAA/Phlebotomist will perform the following job duties:
- Perform routine and advanced venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures.
- Under direct supervision, perform routine laboratory analytical procedures related to preparing and storing human biological samples, blood and body fluids, for microbiological, hematological, immunohematological and chemical analysis.
- Release and/or place orders in hospital and laboratory computer systems, receives, processes and distributes specimens and/or blood products.
- Perform various preanalytical functions including loading samples onto analyzers, preparing slides for staining and preparing samples for transport to other laboratories.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Requires completion of phlebotomy training program or 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience (clinical or hospital based preferred).
- In addition, one or more of the following is preferred:
- Graduation from a certified health-related program at high school level or above; OR
- Successful completion of Advanced Placement courses in the sciences at the high school level: OR
- Successful completion of science based studies at college level (minimum 3 credit hours). Prefer GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Must have computer operational skills using a personal computer, laboratory system or other hospital information system.
- Applicant should display initiative, have the ability to multitask and be able to take on responsibilities.
- Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current CPR certification is required
