Area Health Information Specialist II
Location: Ocala, FL 34471 (Work exclusively at this location)
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
Type: Full-Time, Regular

Position Highlights- Full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
- Work exclusively at the Ocala, FL location
- Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment
- Processing medical record requests by taking calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys to provide medical status
- Documenting information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors
- Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information.
- Maintain knowledge of company and facility software.
- Adhere to code of conduct and policies.
- Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes.
- Assist with additional duties as required.
- Apply medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure.
- Manage patient health records and safeguarding them to ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents from paper sources or electronic health records.
- Ensure records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete.
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage.
- Respond to requests for patient records from both internal and external sources.
- Answer inbound/outbound calls.
- Assist with patient walk-ins, faxes, opening mail, data entry, and scheduling pick-ups.
- Assist with training associates, generating reports for managers, and participating in project teams.
- Lead staff on general questions and assist with new hire training.
- Exceed level 1 productivity expectations as outlined at the specific site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of health information related experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to travel locally/regionally 75% or more of the time and commute between locations as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to use phones, fax machine, printers, and office equipment.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Detail and quality oriented for accurate and compliant medical record information.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
- Previous production/metric-based work experience.
- In-person customer service experience.
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers.
- Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvements, and feedback to stakeholders.
