The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist, as part of the procedure team, provides technical services and support to diagnostic and interventional cardiology, structural heart, peripheral vascular, and interventional radiology procedures for the Cardiac Cath Lab adult patients.
Essential Functions- Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects proper film size or given exam. Ensures proper identification and collimation, using appropriate markers, develops film as required.
- Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Assists physician during angiographic procedures, working with specialized equipment. Assists physicians in performance of examinations by programming injectors, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, documentation of procedures related to Cath/Specials, i.e. sheath removal, and procedural events in the medical record.
- Responsible for the correct identification of the patient demographics on each film to include correct permanent marker right or left identification.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
- Reviews the patient history to obtain pertinent clinical information.
- Associates degree of equivalent in Radiology Technology
- State of Florida Rad Tech license and ARRT (R) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVT) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- ARRT Registry with Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) credentials within 12 months
- BLS Certification required
- ACLS required
- 2+ years of experience in acute care
