Job Summary and Qualifications Position SummaryAssists the pharmacist in the performance of the pharmacy daily routine. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, JCAHO Standards, and hospital/department policies and procedures. May be required to work at Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, and/or The Free Standing Emergency Departments as needed.
Essential Duties- Accurately assists the pharmacist in filling physician orders and according to the department's established priorities.
- Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner.
- Greets people entering the department; smiles and makes direct eye contact; gives full attention to the person, maintains an even voice level.
- Answers telephones, answers questions and refers or transfers callers, answers telephones by the third (3rd) ring, identifies the department and name, speaks clearly, addresses the caller by name when appropriate.
- Complete daily work assignments with minimal supervision or direction.
- Accurately maintain required documentation logs.
- Responsible for maintain medication storage and security as per regulatory requirements throughout the organization.
- Performs quality control and performance improvement functions as assigned. Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency.
- Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned.
- Performs basic billing functions.
- Accurately performs required calculations.
- Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures. Accurately packages and prepares pre-packages and unit dose medications for dispensing as assigned.
- Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral products.

- High School Graduate / GED
