Great American's Equine Mortality Division is one of the world's leading providers of equine mortality insurance and related coverages. The division is staffed with experts in all breeds and disciplines such as racing, showing, cutting, dressage, hunter/jumper, driving, reining, and pleasure riding. The Equine Division is currently searching for an Associate Underwriting Supervisor or Underwriting Supervisor in Ocala, FL. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the daily activities of the Equine Underwriting team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Reviews processing of new underwriting applications, ensuring they align with Company policies and underwriting guidelines.
  • Reviews comprehensive risk assessments, policy statuses, and portfolio performance to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of underwriting files, ensuring all documents and approvals are properly filed.
  • Facilitates effective communication with agents and customers to obtain information needed to underwrite risks and address issues.
  • Requests or generates management reports to monitor and evaluate unit performance, client satisfaction, and other key business metrics.
  • Oversees data entry and processing to ensure integrity and prevent potential systemic issues.
  • Leads opportunities to streamline procedures and enhance efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to clients on safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, a minimum of 6 years of underwriting experience or a related field.
  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred.
  • Exhibits strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.
