AC Service Today is hiring a hands-on General Manager to run day-to-day operations for a residential & light commercial HVAC company in Ocala, FL.

We’re entering a new phase focused on stability, consistency, and operational excellence, and we’re hiring ahands-on General Managerto run the business day-to-day.
This is a real operating role — not a desk job, not a tech-first role, and not corporate babysitting.
The Role
The General Manager ownspeople, process, performance, and profit.
You’ll take over many responsibilities historically handled by ownership and act as the operational leader of the business.
You are accountable for:
- Day-to-day operations
- Team performance and accountability
- Financial discipline and margins
- Clean processes and follow-through
What You’ll Be Doing
Operational Leadership
- Own daily operations across service, maintenance, and installs
- Ensure technicians are scheduled properly, productive, and supported
- Enforce SOPs and operating standards
- Resolve real operational issues escalated by dispatch or field teams
- Drive consistency, urgency, and accountability
Key Metrics
- Jobs completed per tech per day
- Callback rate
- On-time arrival %
- Review weekly and monthly P&Ls
- Monitor install pricing, discounts, and true gross margins
- Approve pricing within guidelines
- Ensure tickets, deposits, and payments are processed correctly
- Maintain clean, timely financial reporting
Key Metrics
- Gross margin (service vs. install)
- Average ticket size
- Oversee service-to-install handoffs
- Ensure techs properly identify and flag sales opportunities
- Support or manage comfort advisors / sales reps
- Track close rates, average install value, and financing usage
Key Metrics
- Close rate
- Average install value
- Lead technicians, office staff, and sales teams with clear expectations
- Run weekly team meetings and 1-on-1s
- Coach underperformance early and directly
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and terminations
- Build a culture of professionalism, urgency, and accountability
Office, Dispatch & Admin Oversight
- Improve dispatch efficiency and scheduling logic
- Ensure tickets are closed, billed, and uploaded on time
- Oversee inventory ordering and replenishment
- Validate payroll inputs prior to submission
- Reduce single points of failure in office operations
Process Improvement & Scale Readiness
- Help document, refine, and enforce SOPs
- Implement performance dashboards and reporting cadence
- Support CRM and technology adoption
- Reduce owner dependency and prepare the business to scale
Top Requirements (Read This Carefully)

- HVAC Experience
- 5–10 years in HVAC or home services operations
- Prior General Manager (preferred), Service Manager, Ops Manager, or similar leadership role
- Ready to own outcomes — not just manage tasks
- Comfortable being the final operational decision-maker
- Florida HVAC License - Active strongly preferred
- OR you are already well into the processof obtaining one
- If you are not close to licensure, this role will not be a fit
- You can read, understand, and explain a P&L
- You understand margin, labor efficiency, and pricing discipline
