Position Summary
The North Central division of Florida Orthopaedic Institute, part of Orthopaedic Solutions Management (OSM), is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Operations to lead day-to-day operations across our growing physician practice locations. This leader will drive operational excellence, patient experience, employee engagement, physician partnerships, financial performance, and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced, multi-site healthcare environment.
The Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership while maintaining a visible presence across the region. This role partners closely with physicians, executive leadership, and support departments to ensure exceptional patient care, strong team performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term organizational growth. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who enjoys developing teams, building culture, solving problems, and balancing strategic planning with hands-on operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for regional management teams and clinic operations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, growth initiatives, and operational priorities.
- Evaluate workflows, staffing models, and operational processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of care.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of healthcare technology solutions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing leaders and teams.
- Lead day-to-day operations across multiple physician practice locations.
- Partner with physicians and divisional leaders to optimize patient flow, scheduling, staffing, and specialty services.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Promote a culture of safety, service excellence, and accountability.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and communication processes that improve both employee and patient experiences.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate operational projects and initiatives from conception through completion.
- Represent the organization through community partnerships, professional associations, and regional initiatives.
- Participate in Operations Committee and leadership meetings and communicate organizational priorities effectively.
- Maintain accountability for regional financial performance and operational outcomes.
- Utilize financial, operational, and productivity data to support sound decision-making.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify performance gaps, and implement corrective action plans.
- Partner with Finance to develop, manage, and monitor annual operating budgets.
- Drive year-over-year operational improvements and align departmental performance with organizational goals.
- Partner with Human Resources on workforce planning, employee relations, leadership development, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with Marketing to support physician growth initiatives and organizational expansion.
- Work closely with Information Technology, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, and other support departments to ensure organizational alignment and operational effectiveness.
- Build collaborative relationships with physicians, leaders, and staff throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, privacy requirements, and organizational policies.
- Monitor regulatory changes and operational risks and implement processes to support compliance.
- Support organizational preparedness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field required.
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related field) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience required.
- Experience leading multi-site physician practice operations preferred.
- Experience managing financial performance, productivity metrics, and operational KPIs.
- Demonstrated success developing and leading high-performing teams.
- Experience collaborating with physicians, clinical leaders, and executive leadership.
- Experience driving process improvement and operational efficiencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Orthopedic or specialty practice experience preferred but not required.
- Experience in ambulatory care, physician practice management, or multi-site healthcare operations.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement certification preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, and healthcare technology platforms.
