The Forklift Operator is responsible for moving racks, glass and other materials as needed around the facility. Forklift operators in the Shipping Department are responsible for loading completed orders onto delivery trucks.

- Identify and transport racks of glass to and from various departments within the plant as needed.
- Obtains production schedules and/or shipping orders to identify, verify and transport racks of glass accordingly.
- Applies understanding of basic inventory skills (basic math, counting, reading and writing).
- Operates or willingness to learn how to operate multiple styles of Forklift.
- Applies understanding of computer literacy and computer programs.
- Reports issues with racks or materials to supervisor immediately.
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical issues to supervisor and maintenance as need.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Forklift operating experience required
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Must be able and willing to work independently and as a team member in varying conditions (heat, cold, indoor/outdoor and heights up to 50 feet).
- Knowledge of proper PPE for each job performed.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds individually
- Ability to operate forklift controls
- Ability to operate hand switches and knobs
- Ability to memorize the names and sizes of various rack types
- Ability to read and comprehend shipping lists and order sheets
- Ability to complete documentation accurately
- Safety first attitude
