Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our fabrication team in Ocala, FL. This role is responsible for welding structural steel components to build large industrial skids, diesel fuel storage tanks, trailers, stairs, and platforms. The ideal candidate has strong structural welding experience, can read fabrication drawings, and takes pride in producing high-quality, code-compliant welds in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Weld structural steel components to fabricate large skids and assemblies
- Use a combination of welding processes, including MIG (GMAW), Flux-Core (FCAW), and Stick (SMAW); TIG (GTAW) experience is a plus
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
- Fit, tack, and weld components according to specifications and tolerances
- Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and correctly
- Perform visual inspections of welds to ensure quality and structural integrity
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Work collaboratively with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production schedules
- Perform grinding, cutting, and minor fabrication as needed
- 2+ years of structural welding experience
- Proven ability to weld carbon steel in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
- Experience with mixed welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, SMAW)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Experience fabricating industrial skids or heavy structural assemblies
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent)
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
- Familiarity with shop fabrication and production environments
Physical Requirements
- Industrial fabrication shop environment
- Exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and heavy materials
- Use of PPE required at all times
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the shift
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
