Dragline Operator

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Safely operating the Manitowoc 4600 stockpiling shot limestone
• Monitoring machine conditions and noting necessary maintenance requirements
• Lubricating machine points as required throughout shift
• Ensuring the dragline is properly inspected prior to shift operation and all conditions noted
• Maintaining thorough communications with Mine Manager to inform of machine status or conditional changes
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping on dragline systems and within the working area of the quarry
• Recording equipment status on Pre-Shift/Workplace exam forms
• Following Safe Quality Food guidelines
• Attending scheduled safety meetings
• Enforcing all applicable safety policies
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
• Promoting safety among co‑workers
• Participating in Behavior Based Safety program
• Backing up to any qualified position as assigned by supervisor, and being backed up by any qualified team member as assigned by supervisor
• Performing or assisting with maintenance tasks as required
• Understanding and working within Safe Quality Food certification requirements
• Performing other duties as assigned

• Problem Solving – uses logic and methods to help solve machine operating problems
• Communication Skills – clear written and verbal instructions and notes are essential
• Working Knowledge – must understand the mechanics of the equipment
• Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on‑call, or work seven days a week, as required by stockpile maintenance
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet customer needs
• Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co‑workers
• Must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently
• Must possess basic reading and math skills
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong record of attendance reliability
• Safety Oriented with the ability to work well within a team environment
• Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job

• Must be physically able to perform work assigned
• Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
• Must have access to all areas within the site, which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
• Will work primarily in a covered environment but mainly in a mining environment
• Exposed to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and mineral particles
• Must stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, talk, see, hear and sit as required
• Must be able to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed

Previous heavy equipment and/or mining experience.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.
