Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Overview
Mechanical Technician responsible for manufacturing, quality, and safety of fire emergency vehicles.
Responsibilities- Meet manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements as per shop orders and specifications.
- Work from shop orders, specifications, manuals, schematics, and customer reports to diagnose problems, establish root causes, disassemble units, determine repair needs, and identify material requirements.
- Rebuild and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic units; reassemble and test components to meet required standards.
- Analyze operational malfunctions, identify root causes, coordinate resolution, communicate with customer representatives, and visit customer locations as required.
- Retrofitting or modifying products to meet engineering or customer changes.
- Set up and conduct tests for electrical components (e.g., lights, sirens, radios, warning systems); diagnose, rewire, replace units, and test repaired units.
- Set up, change over, and operate equipment and machine tools; perform scrubs of print packages, BOMs, shop orders, and correct discrepancies.
- Provide technical advice to supervisors and assist in planning daily activities and commitments.
- Participate in Lean and continuous improvement activities.
- Wear fall protection devices as required for work at heights above 4 ft.
- Assist with any operations or tasks necessary to maintain workflow or meet production requirements.
- Hand tools, power tools, saws, soldering iron, electrical test stand, voltmeters, ammeters, computer, engine/transmission data readers, tape measure, digital level, torch, plasma cutter, air arc, fixtures, overhead crane, impact wrenches, stud welder, grinders, belt sanders, drill press, etc.
Follow E‑ONE General Health & Safety Rules; use PPE; promote safety; maintain a clean and safe environment; participate in safety training.
Ensure defect‑free work; check conformance to process controls; segregate non‑conforming product; initiate corrective actions.
Be willing to work in other areas, accept flexible breaks, and work additional hours as needed.
Participate in continuous improvement; seek new work when current assignment is complete; suggest improvements to quality, processes, and safety.
Maintain a positive working attitude; collaborate with others; adhere to company policies; work cooperatively on projects.
Attend training programs and task force groups to maintain knowledge of equipment and processes.
Lead the team; provide innovative thought leadership on strategies to grow market share and profitability.
Work hard; be proactive and energetic, acting efficiently without excessive planning.

- High school graduate or GED; strong math and blueprint reading skills.
- Computer skills and familiarity with E‑ONE operating systems.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail.
- Commitment to quality standards, problem‑solving skills.
- Team player.
- Lift/push/pull up to 40 lb frequently and up to 20 lb constantly; climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and other structures.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed.
- Stand and walk for sustained periods; operate vehicles and machinery requiring visual acuity.
- Handle hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, high heat, and chemicals; participate in daily stretches at 7:00 AM and 11:15 AM.
