Who You Are
The Tool Maker is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining machine components to support production operations. This role involves fabricating precision machine parts from raw steel to exact specifications, often serving as direct replacements for OEM components. The Tool Maker plays a critical role in ensuring efficient manufacturing processes by supporting production needs while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
WhereYou Will Work
In our Closet Maid Ocala facility. A 600,000 square feet manufacturing and distribution facility.
Monday - Friday
7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. (Overtime when needed)
What You Will DoThe following duties are representative but not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Reverse engineer existing machine components and provide detailed sketches and documentation for management records
- Fabricate, modify, and repair machine parts based on blueprints, sketches, and specifications
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machinery including mills, lathes, surface grinders, saws, drill presses, and other fabrication equipment
- Efficiently operate all Closet Maid machine shop CNC equipment on a regular basis
- Observe machine operation and diagnose malfunctions, determining necessary repairs or adjustments
- Measure, mark, and prepare metal stock for machining
- Disassemble equipment to inspect and identify defective components
- Repair or replace worn or damaged parts using various types of metal stock
- Reassemble machinery and test to confirm proper functionality
- Maintain and lubricate tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment and maintain consistent attendance
- Support production needs, including working overtime as required by business demands
- Strong proficiency in manual and CNC machining operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Advanced troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong understanding of shop safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing production needs
