Production Picker / Kitter

The Production Picker plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by accurately picking components, assembling kits, and delivering materials to the production line. This position works in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment and ensures that all parts are picked, verified, and staged on time to meet production schedules. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced warehouse setting, follows detailed instructions, and uses basic computer systems to maintain inventory accuracy and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick parts and materials based on order sheets, work orders, or production schedules.
  • Assemble complete kits of components required for production line operations.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and specifications to ensure accuracy before staging or delivery.
  • Deliver completed kits to designated production areas in a timely and organized manner.
  • Maintain organization of inventory and ensure materials are stored in proper locations.
  • Use basic computer systems to review work orders, track inventory, and update job status.
  • Assist with cycle counts and support inventory control activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Perform picking, packing, and order building tasks to support shipping and receiving as needed.
  • Safely operate a forklift when moving materials and completed kits within the facility.
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines and standard operating procedures in the warehouse and production areas.

Essential Skills

  • Experience picking orders in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
  • Proven ability to build and assemble orders or kits accurately and efficiently.
  • Forklift experience and ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Basic computer skills to review work orders, track inventory, and update job status.
  • Experience with inventory control, including cycle counts and stock organization.
  • Order picking, packing, and shipping and receiving activities.
  • Strong attention to detail when verifying part numbers, quantities, and specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to support production schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comfort working in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing plant.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions for kitting and picking tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage locations and staging areas.
  • Willingness to assist across functions, including inventory, shipping, receiving, and production support.
  • Capability to work overtime, including extended weekday hours and some Saturdays, as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing plant focused on producing components used in critical applications such as fire engine pumps. You will work closely with both warehouse and production teams, using forklifts, material handling equipment, and basic computer systems to manage orders and inventory. Standard hours are on the first shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with current schedules running approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and some Saturdays for overtime as needed.

The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and efficiency, providing a structured setting where materials flow smoothly from inventory to the production line.
